The Chilko River is one of North America's most exciting whitewater destinations. The river flows out of Chilko Lake, which is 55 miles long and glacially fed, hence it's amazing blue color. The river has the longest, continuous stretch of whitewater on the continent (14 miles. In the fall, a large run of Sockeye Salmon runs up the river to spawn in the lake, which draws scores of eagles and grizzly and black bears to forage it's shores.
